Cool Kids® Program

The Cool Kids® Program is a structured, evidence-based treatment designed to help children and adolescents aged 7–17 learn practical skills to manage anxiety. Developed at Macquarie University, this program is based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) principles and has been shown to be highly effective in reducing worry, fear, and avoidance in young people.

The program helps children (and their parents) to:

  • Identify and understand anxiety
  • Learn to face feared situations gradually and safely
  • Develop helpful thinking skills
  • Build confidence in managing everyday challenges
  • Reduce avoidance and build independence

Parents play an active role in the program, learning tools to support their child at home and reinforce progress outside of sessions. We adapt the content to suit each child’s developmental level, ensuring a supportive and engaging experience for both child and parent. Whether your child is experiencing separation anxiety, social fears, generalised worry, or specific phobias, Cool Kids® offers a practical and proven path to feeling calmer and more in control.
